Jagdish Singh Dhaliwal

Historical
Born 1952 at Telok Intan, entered VI from La Salle Petaling Jaya in 1966.

School antics/achievements: Class trouble maker and joker! Detention records sent to Guinness book of records. Most caned guy of his generation! (Double punishment of being caned by the father of a good friend (and classmate) at VI!  “He enjoyed it…I did not”).

Holds record of NEVER being late for school: “Those days, if it appeared that I was going to be late I just waved at the prefect at the gate, turned around and went home! Thus avoiding the cane and detention, and maintaining a perfect record!”.  Also a member of the Debating Society, and school hockey and cricket team.

Further education: ACCA at London in 1976: "the only thing this course taught me was that you can do anything…as long as you balance the books".
Career: First paying job – Jewellery Trader.  Then Group Accountant for Malaysian Rubber Board, followed by Vice President/CFO at Multimedia Development Corporation Sdn Bhd.

Current events
Career: Visionary self-employed businessman, mainly day trading on Bursa and other markets. “Also doing my FRCS which includes a lot of fun and overseas travel!”

Family members:
Q: Name of marital/non-marital partner, how long together?
A:“Too many to name and too long!”.
Children? 2 boys: an engineer and a merchant banker: “no accountants…yet!”.

Outsider career activities:
Pets? “Have some Homo Sapiens – properly trained!”
Favourite makan places in KL – “Any watering hole will do but Backyard has good music and food.”
World Cup comments – “Which cup? Any cup not featuring Brazil till the end is rubbish.”

Future plans
“Get back to my weight when I was 20 years old.”

“Would like to meet Victorians who have like hobbies and wish to see the world as it should be seen.”

Growing old issues:  “No issues but want to see Malaysia qualify for a World Cup – before I die and not from up there!”
