VI to be proclaimed as a National Heritage

14th February 2009 will be forever remembered by all Victorians not just because it was also Valentine’s Day. This had been the day that V.I. was proclaimed as a National Heritage by the Malaysian government. YB Dato’ Seri Haji Mohd Shafie Bin Haji Apdal, Minister of Culture, Arts, Heritage and Unity (who is also an old Victorian – batch of 1976) officiated the event with much pomp and pageantry, amidst full media coverage. To the pleasure and delight of all Victorians, he announced that our school’s name would revert to Victoria Institution, and not the former “SMK Victoria”. Three rounds of the famous VI clap ensued immediately after that. This was the day when many Victorians, including guests, met and mingled with each other. Some had not met each other for ages. Now, there are plans to get VI back on track to its former glory days. All of you are invited to participate in this process in any way you like, be it financial and material contributions, sponsorships, ideas, energy, effort or time. If you are a true Victorian, what better way to show your love to the school by making it Malaysia’s best school. Viva Victoria!
